Getting Started
This is the full onboarding flow for RoDefend using /tutorial, /setuphelp, and /setup.
Recommended: Use the Dashboard for initial setup and edits. Use
/setup in Discord as a fallback when needed.Before you start
- You need Administrator permission in the Discord server.
- The bot should also have Administrator permission.
- You need access to your Roblox experience in the Creator Dashboard.
Step 1: Use tutorial resources
Run /tutorial or /setuphelp first. Both provide the setup video and guidance links.

Step 2: Create your OpenCloud API key
- Open Roblox API Keys and create a new key.
- Under access permissions, select your experience and enable:
universe.user-restriction:readanduniverse.user-restriction:write. - Set accepted IP addresses to
0.0.0.0/0(as shown in your setup guide). - Save and copy the API key. Keep it private.

Step 3: Get your Universe ID
- Open Roblox Creations.
- Find your experience, open the options menu, and copy the Universe ID.
- Keep this ready for the
/setupform.
Step 4: Complete setup (Dashboard recommended)
- Open Dashboard and complete setup there first (faster and easier to maintain).
- If needed, run
/setupin Discord as fallback. - If you use
/setup, choose Continue in Discord. - Select moderator roles (up to 5).
- Fill the setup modal:
Game Name,API Key,Universe ID, andExclude alt accounts (yes/no).
What setup creates
- A
RoDefendcategory if it does not exist. - A game-specific private logs channel (for example
mygame-logs). - Saved game config (API key, universe, mod roles, alt-ban preference).
After setup
- Open
/dashboardand confirm your game appears. - Set warning thresholds and actions in dashboard moderation settings.
- Set presets and force-reason behavior if needed.
- Run a safe test command like
/lookupto verify everything is working.
