Getting Started

This is the full onboarding flow for RoDefend using /tutorial, /setuphelp, and /setup.

Recommended: Use the Dashboard for initial setup and edits. Use /setup in Discord as a fallback when needed.

Before you start

  • You need Administrator permission in the Discord server.
  • The bot should also have Administrator permission.
  • You need access to your Roblox experience in the Creator Dashboard.

Step 1: Use tutorial resources

Run /tutorial or /setuphelp first. Both provide the setup video and guidance links.

Step 2: Create your OpenCloud API key

  1. Open Roblox API Keys and create a new key.
  2. Under access permissions, select your experience and enable: universe.user-restriction:read and universe.user-restriction:write.
  3. Set accepted IP addresses to 0.0.0.0/0 (as shown in your setup guide).
  4. Save and copy the API key. Keep it private.

Step 3: Get your Universe ID

  1. Open Roblox Creations.
  2. Find your experience, open the options menu, and copy the Universe ID.
  3. Keep this ready for the /setup form.

Step 4: Complete setup (Dashboard recommended)

  1. Open Dashboard and complete setup there first (faster and easier to maintain).
  2. If needed, run /setup in Discord as fallback.
  3. If you use /setup, choose Continue in Discord.
  4. Select moderator roles (up to 5).
  5. Fill the setup modal: Game Name, API Key, Universe ID, and Exclude alt accounts (yes/no).

What setup creates

  • A RoDefend category if it does not exist.
  • A game-specific private logs channel (for example mygame-logs).
  • Saved game config (API key, universe, mod roles, alt-ban preference).

After setup

  1. Open /dashboard and confirm your game appears.
  2. Set warning thresholds and actions in dashboard moderation settings.
  3. Set presets and force-reason behavior if needed.
  4. Run a safe test command like /lookup to verify everything is working.
Next step: go to Configuration to finalize moderation and dashboard settings.
